Red True Dragons
Red dragons are aggressive, short tempered and quick to anger. Those who manage to control most of their outbursts prove to be great tacticians and strategists. They're very passionate and proud and never forgive nor forget their offenders. They're also strict and militaristic with their approach. They look down with pity upon other races and believe themselves to be the best, most powerful and terrifying of all dragons.
Red dragons like rubies and other precious red and orange gems and it is not unheard of Kings and rulers to offer them to the dragon for war counselling, unfortunately it rarely ends up well.
Their bodies are covered in deep red scales that protect them from most type of damage. They have deep brown horns and orange or maroon coloured insides of their wings. Red dragons are immune to fire and in fact are healed when hit with fire based attacks. They're highly resistant to magic and physical damage, and are the biggest and the most durable of all true dragons. They have a weakness to water and ice based attacks, but are able to minimalize the damage dealt to them by using fire based protective spells.
They're able to breath with fire, smoke and Ash as well as set things on fire with their gaze. They also can spit fire and summon fire, smoke and Ash elementals as well as summon fiery meteorites or comets and cause firestorms and fire tornados. Red dragons often make use of servants during battle such as Kobolds or dragonhearts and care not for their safety. They can also use their wings to create a blast of air which can deflect physical projectiles and make its enemies fall on the ground. They frequently use their tail, claws and fangs as well.
Red dragons choose partners depending on their reputation and fame. The more tales about the dragons deeds the more attractive it is. In case of rejection the dragons start fighting and if the rejected one wins it takes over the stronghold and its riches and then they mate, if the rejecting one wins he or she banishes the other dragon and takes it treasures. They form short term relationships and stay together until their hissling reaches adolescence. At this point, if the proposing dragon was rejected, but won the fight - it banishes its partner from the lands. In case of red dragons the females pregnancy takes about 1 year, after that time the egg must be almost submerged in the lava for another year after which a hissling is born. The female dragon nurtures its young for 10 human years after which it reaches adolescence. Then its time for the female to leave it with its father who teaches it literally everything while she goes back to her own lair. If the young dragon fails its tasks too often or falls back on its lessons the father abandons it in the far away lands leaving it to tend for itself. It is not unheard of the young dragons surviving and taking revenge years later.
These dragons are able to speak common, dragon tongue, and fire speech and - as most true dragons - are able to take on humanoid form. They choose tall mountains for their lairs, preferably near volcanoes, which they drill with their fire breath and mould them into strongholds. They like to sleep in the lava of volcanoes and collect precious gemstones.
The red dragons diet consists of purely meat and their favourite types are elephants, camels and dinosaurs. They prefer to eat their meat almost charcoaled.
Red dragons tend to build small armies of red Kobolds and red dragonhearts and keep them in their strongholds. They usually use them to look after the stronghold while they're gone and to patrol the area. They often build forts and towers and connect them with underground tunnels and completely fortify nearby lands. They also train their subjects in the art of battle and pound in militaristic tactics into their commanders. They are extremely strict and do not tolerate weaklings.
Blue true dragons
Blue dragons are eccentric and capricious and they change their minds like the weather. They are a bit vain and like to see their reflection and be revered and complimented by others. They like creatures that are able to fly and pity all the others and are generally arrogant.
Blue dragons often choose abandoned temples or forts located on the mountains peak, but actually rarely stay in them. Instead they tend to stay around them sleeping in some inaccessible to others places; for example: somewhere deep in the forest, at abandoned locations or even at the bottom of the lake.
They do not employ or enslave any creatures at all believing in freedom of all beings. Instead, they prefer to make their own offspring in the form of dragonhearts, who take care of their strongholds while they travel around and tend to their every whim and wish. Despite their believes they often choose unwilling partners.
Blue dragons do not look for other blue dragons of the opposite gender simply because all of them are hermaphrodites and are capable of self-impregnation. They lay their eggs after 10 days in a place with high moisture and ventilation where they incubate for 6 months. The process actually takes 1 year, but the dragon strikes the eggs with its breath weapon of lightning to speed it up.
A blue dragon is a bit smaller than the red dragon. They're covered in blue scales and have white underbelly and the insides of their wings. They're able to summon hurricanes and great thunderstorms as well as breath with either lightning or tornado and summon wind walkers and lightning elementals. They're immune to air damage and are healed once struck with electricity. Blue Dragons are naturally resistant to cold and magic but weak against water damage.
Teal True Dragons
Teal dragons are the friendliest of all true dragons. They're good natured and eager to help those in need. They are, however, short tempered and sometimes prone to act on an impulse. Teal dragons tend to stay away from any kind of conflicts and do not like confrontations unless absolutely necessary. They often travel the lands in the form of a mist, or a fog while avoiding hot and dry regions to gather information. Teal Dragons are known to cause rains and help out farmers and fishermen.
These dragons are great swimmers and divers and prefer to sleep underwater. They often choose underwater caves for their lairs and sometimes live peacefully in the cities of mer. They are fierce friends who like to keep in contact and chat for hours. Teal dragons get along with good natured creatures.
Because they hate conflicts and fighting in general it is quite hard to corner them and force into a fight, but most of the time it is quickly regretted. During battle the teal dragon can breath with either cone of boiling steam or high pressured water jet able to cut ships and buildings in half. They can also summon fog or mist and cause so called water tornados, where the water is being sucked upwards as a whirlpool. They're also able to create normal whirlpools and spit water with such strength that it creates a water bullet able to pierce armors. Other than that they can summon water or steam elementals and create mud golems. If the fight doesn't go well for the Teal Dragon it can always create extremely thick fog or mist and use either a water or mist portal to escape the battle or turn itself into mist.
Teal dragons are completely immune to water damage and resistant to cold and fire damage. They're highly resistant to pierce and slash damage and possess resistance to magic and mind based skills and abilities.
Green True Dragon
Green dragons are full of greed and deceit. They're obsessed with gold, precious gems and other riches which they hoard and keep in their lairs. They're excellent at bluffing and as natural liars can see through any lie. Because of their obsession they spend their time either looking for more riches or planning how to protect them from would be thieves.
Their bodies are covered in deep green scales which protect them against most type of damage. Their heads are similar to that of a snake and their forked tongue strengthens that image even further.
Green dragons often choose swamps for their homes, preferably with some abandoned castle, Fort or at least ruins. They do not employ any creatures from the fear of them stealing their riches and leave their lair to either hunt or to search for more shinies. Their homes are almost perfectly camouflaged with vegetation and random rumble and guarded with magical protective glyphs and deadly traps.
They often attack merchant caravans and steal their cargo, or kidnap wealthy looking travelers and interrogate them about any hidden goods.
During battle a green dragon will make use of their ocular power and try to paralyze its victim after which they will either quickly gore them to shreds with their massive claws, or hypnotize them to further their agenda. If that doesn't work they will try to breath with a cone of acid, spit with explosive nitroglycerin, or breathe with a line of emerald light which turns their foes into green crystals. They are nimble fighters despite their massive size and are proficient with the use of magical glyphs which they sneakily place during battle to surprise their enemies.
These dragons are completely immune to diseases, poison, acid and earth based damage. They're highly resistant to fire, pierce and slash damage and also mind based skills.
Black True Dragon
Black dragons are the most cunning and intelligent of all true dragons, also the most cruel. They're very manipulative and can easily gain insight into things by engaging in conversation. Black dragons are extremely observant and can deduct ones job, habits, wealth and secrets merely by eyeing a person up and down. They have photographic memory and never forget an information once learned. These dragons often meddle in the affairs of other races out of boredom and mostly act according to their whims and instincts.
A black dragon is covered in jet black, shiny scales with segmented white inner neck and underbelly. Their eyes are completely white and glow with dim light.
They try to stay away from other dragons, but are not afraid to confront them should they interfere with their affairs. The exception to this rule would be other Black Dragons of the same gender. If a Black Dragon becomes aware that there's another one of his kind nearby he will try to outdo him in every way to prove his superiority. There are actually legends telling of great wars between different nations or even races as a result of a rivalry between two Black Dragons. The only other Dragons they tolerate are the Black Dragons of the opposite gender as they cannot resist each other every time they meet. The pair do not stay together and separate soon after, but they always exchange magical artifacts allowing them to communicate with each other.
Black dragons actually care for their offspring. The female dragon guards the eggs extremely ferociously until they hatch. She will then take care of the females and leave the upbringing of the males to their father. The Black dragons teach their younglings everything they know and actively look after their development. The parents and the young dragons share a strong bond with each other which lasts until they die. They also often take revenge for their partners should they be killed.
Black dragons often take possession of old castles, usually located in unreachable locations such as mountain peaks, and kidnap beautiful maidens or handsome men to be their new wives or husbands in their growing harem. A black dragon does not employ other creatures simply because of trust and competency issues. Instead, they create homunculi servants who look after the castle and tend to the black dragons playthings. They also collect food and other items from the neighbouring lands allowing the dragon to participate in their hobbies such as: collecting new brides or grooms, torturing slaves and peasants or creating deadly torturing devices and traps.
These dragons have obsession with pain, death and all kinds of experiments. Their castles are often full of their gruesome inventions, golems and quite impressive number of riches. They enjoy showing their collection and boasting to anybody interested in seeing it, they also are always interested in inspecting new torturing contraptions or traps and learning about inventions and experiments of others, even though there's nothing more exciting for them than hearing screams and smelling the fear of their victims in the air. These dragons are known to possess a small army of undead under their control which they keep under a magical lock connected to their heart. They often choose locations near hamlets and villages who have no way of defending against such forces and once the dragon is killed the seal on the lock is broken and the undead are released upon the nearby unsuspecting civilians - a dragon's last laugh and insurance policy at the same time.
Black dragons prefer to remain in their humanoid form which can be anything the dragon wishes it to be: a human, gem elf or dragonheart, but their most favorite one is a homunculus. In this form they prefer to rely on their illusion spells and the creation of phantasms. If that fails they fight with their favorite weapons while relying on their ocular power allowing them to turn living beings into stone. In the last resort they transform into their dragon form. In this form they're able to use their breath weapon and breath with either a cone of black crows, cone of flesh eating, black miasma or ray of darkness. They can also summon shades from Arcavand, rise undead, summon golems and become almost invisible once in the shadows.
They're immune to unholy and dark based damage, highly resistant to all physical damages and possess natural protection against mind and magic based damage. Furthermore they cannot be cursed, or hexed and often undergo various experiments to increase their elemental resistances. Not to mention all magical items they might carry with them or swallow during or before the battle. Black Dragon is vulnerable to light and holy based damage.
White True Dragons
White dragons are known to be emotionless, uncaring and incapable of compassion. They're callous and manipulative with little regard for other beings. Loners by nature they try to avoid meeting and interacting with other dragons, even white ones. White Dragon is a cold creature derived of affection for anybody but itself and as such they abandon their own eggs without seeing their newborns.
They are territorial and will fight any creatures which they think could interfere with their plans. Because they have a hard time understanding emotions they tend to observe other races and their reactions to certain events. A White dragon will even go as far as to cause certain calamities in order to observe different reactions from people. When bored with its own research they change their lair and choose a different location to observe, preferably with a different race somewhere far away.
White dragons prefer to choose tall mountains for their lair, but only those that are permanently covered in deep snow and have frequent blizzards. They use their claws to dig long and complicated system of caverns creating a huge maze. When they're finished they cover all surfaces with ice while barricading themselves in a chamber behind a thick wall of ice and snow where they create their icy fortresses.
Other than observing mortal races and their emotional reactions they invest time into studying sorcery and magic alike. They also like to read about the history and collect objects belonging to their victims.
White dragons are known to hate being in their humanoid form. They like smoking tobacco and eating frozen meat, preferably whale or human. They sometimes pose as benefactors of villages, towns and hamlets in order to obtain all kinds of assets and items and then destroy them.
They often force into servitude other beings such as giants, yetis or snow elves and task them with carrying out their orders.
White dragons are impressed with scientific innovations and are often interested with the works of their black and yellow cousins forming temporary alliances when possible.
A White dragon is able to breathe with a cone of sharp icicles, or freezing breath. They can create powerful blizzards, even in interiors, and freeze anything within a radius of 10 meters (about 32 feet). They're able to summon elementals from the plane of ice and turn flesh to ice with their ocular power. Their favorite attack is however a frostball which they can fire from the space between their front horns which is able not only to freeze everything in its path but also shatter it. They make frequent use of their wings sending powerful gales towards their enemies encasing them in frost which slows them down and are able to walk on icy surfaces as easily as a spider can walk on walls and ceilings. All elemental attacks of the white dragons cause frostbite.
They're healed if struck with ice based attacks, and are immune to water and dark based damage. They're resistant to lightning and highly resistant to physical type of attacks. White dragons are weak against light, acid and fire based attacks.
Golden True Dragons
Gold dragons are very rare as most of them live on ethereal planes such as Blue Fields or Cerynia. They're talkative, charismatic and love to travel among adventurers. They are very selective and careful when making friends, but form friendships for a lifetime and are very caring and supportive. Gold dragons are responsible and dutiful, they value organisation and punctuality and like cleanliness. They're also optimistic and spontaneous and have a habit for being an impulsive risk takers. They can be competitive at times and like to spend time relaxing.
They like to read books, play games, drink tea and coffee and eat biscuits and love to share what they like with others. They're good hosts who will always greet visitors and offer drinks and food, but only after reading their minds to make their intentions known.
Gold dragons love to remain in their humanoid forms and they possess the ability to shapeshift and split their draconic body into three humanoids which provides them with the best camouflage. The only downside to this is that they can't exceed 30m from each other for longer than 2 days or they'll loose consciousness. They often choose towers for their lairs and secretly build underground series of caves underneath it. They like to create molten golems from gold as servants and sometimes take on apprentices from villages. They're also known to acquire a large amount of things made of pure gold as it is their favourite snack, but are not shy to give it to the poor and those in need.
The gold dragons form long term relationships and stay together for life. Even when their partner dies they do not seek another. They're responsible parents who prepare their young for the dangers of the outside world and viciously protect them from harm until they leave their nest.
They can't stand evil dragons and usually make friends with good ones and visit them often.
A gold dragon prefers to fight in its humanoid form wearing its best equipment. Thanks to being able to stay split into 3 bodies it is able to form a small party usually composed of a warrior or a knight, a sentry or cleric and either a blue Druid or shaman. Their main priority is to protect other party members and not to reveal their draconic form. They use skills and prayers according to their class, and disguise some of their draconic powers under the illusion of magical items.
If the dragon is facing an evil dragon or a powerful and extremely dangerous enemy and the fight goes south it might transform into it draconic form to safe its friends. In this form they can use an ocular power to explode a majority of blood vessels in their enemy's body (this power is called Crimson explosion), or turn their bodies into salt. They can use a breath weapon and breathe with either liquid gold vapour which traps their foes in gold and burns their bodies, or a cone of rainbow coloured light. Like in natural rainbow there's 7 colours in the cone and each one has a different type of damage. Blue deals cold type of damage, red deals fire, yellow deals light, orange deals earth, Indigo causes lightning damage, violet deals raw magic damage and green has the ability to encase foes in green crystals. The colours move around in the cone chaotically and never stay in the same place, that's why this breath weapon more than often applies more than one type of damage. They can also breathe with a projectile of searing light and are able to heal even most gruesome of wounds. They avoid using their wings and fangs to attack and use their tails instead. The spikes on the edge of their scales are poisonous and cause damage per round to any creature attacking it physically. The poison damage sums up with each additional dose of the poison.
Gold dragons are healed once hit with a light type of damage. They're are highly resistant to dark and unholy damages, and resistant to fire and mind type of damage.
Brown True Dragons
Brown dragons are loud, bold and fearless. They tend to be rather violent and have a short temper, but are also cunning and wise enough to know that violence will not always win them what they desire. Driven by their own whims and wishes they mostly concentrate on their own interests and often take the role of an observer unless they decide otherwise. They value friendship, but are distrustful towards strangers and do not make such relationships easily or quickly.
These Dragons tend to live in human settlements with the tavern being their favourite place. They love alcohol of all kinds - even though getting drunk takes them ages - and brawls. They have deep respect for all animals and defend them fiercely. They spend most of their time in their humanoid form which is usually a dwarf, or half-elf, rarely human. Brown Dragons often make visits to the nearby forests to check on their beast friends and solve any problems or hindrances.
They care little for other dragons unless their threaten their favourite tavern or the animals in the forest. They only show interest in other brown dragons of the opposite gender. If the dragons like each other they begin their courting process which consists of a drinking contest. The first one to pass out is the looser and has to take care of the hisslings until they reach adolescence. The other one is the dominator and chooses the mating place which later becomes their lair. The Brown Dragons can mate for approximately 6 days non-stop maximum, with breaks for food and water. After which the female lays up to 12 eggs and the dragons part their ways. The parent tasked with looking after the hisslings teaches them the basics of survival and fighting and leaves them to tend for themselves after they reach adolescence.
The Brown dragons prefer to test their opponents first and attack with their fists in their humanoid form. They are excellent fighters and most of them use martial arts. After their foes turn out to be a hindrance the dragon challenges them in their draconic form. As a dragon they are able to breathe with a blast of sharp sand - in a form of a cone, molten pieces of glass - able to envelop their enemies in hot glass stopping their movement and causing fire damage. They are also able to cause magical sandstorms, turn foes into stone with their saliva upon spitting and create powerful gales. Brown dragons are also capable of entering a berserkers rage both in their humanoid and draconic form and make frequent use of their bite and tail attacks during fights.
Brown dragons are immune to earth damage and have high resistance against all physical type of damage. They possess resistance against acid, fire, cold, and are weak against lighting and air based attacks.
Pink True Dragons
Pink Dragons are calm, dignified, refined, mysterious and radiate with self-control. They are full of cat-like grace and are not really compliant with rules. They're proud and a bit arrogant, but also honest and sincere. They have a certain aura of aristocracy about them and their voice sounds like a chorus of 3 people speaking at the same time.
Pink Dragons tend to like the company of good fay creatures and often surround themselves with them creating a sort of a royal court with the dragon sitting on the throne. They are very protective of their subjects and look after them well.
All pink Dragons are females and are actually created through intraspecies merging from 3 fey paradragons. They are able to reproduce only through fragmentation and produce 3 new and fully adult fey dragons. Nobody really knows if the Pink Dragons are the result of fey dragons merging together, or are the fey dragons the result of the Pink Dragon's fragmentation. It is suggested between scholars and experts that a Pink Dragon was most likely a descendant of an Elder Dragon, but since no such Elder Dragons are around anymore to confirm that theory .
Pink Dragons have the ability to travel between material planes and Senzagan as they wish as well as create pockets of warped realities through draconic magic which they can shape as they wish, but loose that control over them once they're completed.
During battles they evacuate all of their court and make use of their fey Knights, with assistance from various nymphs and powerful beasts. They're able to breathe with cone of hornets which linger around causing piercing and poison damage per round and can paralyse the dragons enemies. They're also able to breathe with cone of disintegration and charm others with their ocular power. Furthermore, they're able to phase between dimensions to avoid damage within a certain bracket, they can use this ability only once every certain number of rounds as it needs to recharge.
Pink dragons are immune to wood damage and possess high resistance to magic and physical attacks.
Yellow True Dragon
Yellow Dragons are sarcastic, obnoxious, and ruthless and act based on their desires. They're a bit snobbish and capricious beings who feel superior to all other races and tend to be hedonistic and rather lazy. They are known for their deception and haggling skills, and often play with their victims offering trade deals. They like to surround themselves with weaker and repulsive creatures such as goblins, gremlins, yassiths, various lizardfolk, troglodytes and sometimes even trolls. They have a raspy, dry and deep voice and laugh in a high pitched cackle.
They like the smell of rotting wood, mud and moss and choose marshlands for their homes. They dig massive caves in the muddy soil and petrify all of the walls with their yellow fire breath. The pheromones of this dragon attract goblins who start to worship it and tend to its every whim. Yellows take advantage of this situation and abuse it as much as they can going as far as to conduct experiments on its subjects mixing them with humans and elves creating Hobgoblins, Boggarts and Bugbears in the process. It doesn't take long until the goblins start raiding nearby villages or towns stealing cattle and shiny objects to satisfy their master.
Yellow dragons cannot stand green dragons and start fighting as soon as they see each other. They tend to avoid confrontations with other true dragons except red and black ones from which they simply flee. The yellow dragons are never male, they're always either females, hermaphrodites or protogynous hermaphrodites. They absolutely hate other yellow dragons no matter what gender they are and even avoid and refuse reproducing with them. Their unique and natural biology allows them to reproduce asexually without a partner after they reach about 2,000-3,500 human years, unfortunately the young are abandoned right after birth and left to fend for themselves.
The yellow dragons favourite food is beef, but they prefer to drown the creature first and leave it in the water until it starts to rot. They like to collect anything made from gold and silver, precious gems and works of art which they display in a special chamber. They dislike staying in their humanoid form and avoid shapeshifting in general unless they have to flee, in which case they will almost always take the shape of a yellow hobgoblin.
A yellow dragon is able to cover it entire body in spikes and barbs by transforming its scales and any creature attacking it in close combat receives piercing damage. They often make use of their spiked tail during fights, but their favourite attack is to impale their foes with their sharp protrusion at the end of their reptilian faces. They can cause any creature that looks into its eyes flee in terror as an ocular power. They're able to breathe with yellow fire which has the ability to petrify anything it touches. They can also breathe with stinking cloud and a cone of plague spores. Yellow dragons never fight alone, always using and directing their minions first, casting spells and using their breath weapons from the background and start to flee when they seem to be loosing. A yellow dragon will not hesitate to bring down its own cave in order to escape from peril.
Yellow Dragons are immune to petrifying effects, they cannot be charmed and they ignore persuasion and intimidation attempts. They're resistant to earth, water and unholy based attacks, but weak to fire and wind type of damage.
Silver True Dragons
Silver Dragons - sometimes also called grey - are heroic, playful and nomadic. They love to play practical jokes on others and help those in need as well as seek and vanquish evils such as evil dragons and various monsters. Spirited and adventurous the silver dragons are stubborn in everything they're doing and like new challenges, rivalry and contests. They have a strong sense of justice and will enact their judgement on any wrongdoers they encounter on their travels.
These dragon have nomadic lives. The sky is their roof and the earth is their bed. They're not concerned with silly things such as luxury or treasures and tend to be rather altruistic often giving anything they find to the poor. Silver dragons love art and often take a moment to appreciate it during their travels. They prefer to travel great distances in their draconic form, but interact with others and travel short distances, or with companions, in their humanoid one appearing as a human to spite other evil dragons. Silver dragons do not discriminate between people. For them the most important thing is the personality of the individual and their actions.
These dragons are very smart and knowledgeable about the world. They're familiar with nations, factions and current affairs and also seem to know weaknesses of many monsters and creatures and use that information to their advantage. They're also great at acting, intimidation and persuasion and are great diplomats.
Sometimes they meet other dragons on their travels and fight them if they're evil, or become friends with if they're good natured. Rarely they encounter other silver dragons and exchange stories and experiences with each other, and even more rarely they encounter a silver dragon of the opposite gender.
The silver dragons come in two genders only due to their own preference: male and female, but are actually able to switch their gender at will every few hundred years. If two dragons with opposite gender meet with together and get a liking to each other they might decide to produce an offspring. The male and the female take care of their young together until they reach adolescence, after that they all go into the world in separate directions, but meet every few centuries to exchange stories.
All Silver Dragons prefer the profession of a warrior and its specialisation as a spellsword or guardian. They prefer to fight in their humanoid form as they consider it to be more challenging and fun, but will not hesitate to transform into their draconic form in order to save the innocent. They're able to use force fields creating impenetrable barriers once every few rounds, use telekinesis to manipulate objects and can use telepathy on creatures that are looking into their eyes. They possess three breath weapons: They can breathe with invisible force breath which causes massive increase in gravity in the area of effect crushing anything inside of it, breathe with a line of silver coloured blades, or with a cone of small particles of molten silver which cause fire damage and immobilise its enemies once their cool down. The pores under their scales emanate a pheromone which causes any creature to feel terrified in its presence during a fight. Furthermore they possess an ocular power which enables them to change some of the metals inside their foes's bodies into mercury, poisoning them.
Silver dragons are immune to physical attacks. They possess a resistance to magic, unholy, acid and earth damage and cannot be poisoned, but are susceptible to cold and fire attacks.
Purple True Dragons
Purple dragons - sometimes called indigo dragons - are analytical, calm, mysterious and knowledgeable, but also a bit egocentric. Eccentric and whimsical the purple dragons use humour to make people feel comfortable in their presence. They value and reward any information they need at the moment and are always interested in buying, or stealing unusual, or unknown magical artefacts. They possess an aura of composure, rarely display intense emotions and are highly perceptive, subtle and cunning. The purple dragons do not mind helping those in need, but tend to ignore the problems of the common folk when they're drawing very near on the trail of a magical artefact or in the middle of a research as it is not their main priority.
They're knowledge seeking, power driven individuals who - with a maddening perfectionism pursue all secrets the universe has to offer. They know a lot of forbidden spells and techniques and are ones of the most powerful of all dragon kin and tend to travel the world under the guise of a gem elf noble until they find either a source of ancient magic, ruins of an old civilisation or receive a tip of a powerful artefact being found somewhere. Upon this finding they summon their black obsidian tower from which they start their research and leave when satisfied. The tower itself is a magical space bigger on the inside, smaller on the outside with surrealistic design and countless rooms, chambers and courtyards as well as portals leading to other planes and dimensions.
The scales of purple dragons end in very sharp blades which cover their entire bodies except for areas under their necks, belly, their entire face and wing membranes. They're smaller than red and black dragons, but bigger than brown ones. They're not really concerned with other true dragons unless they threaten the success of a project the purple dragon works on at a given moment, but even then they prefer a diplomatic approach first and fighting second.
Purple dragons often take Scarflies as apprentices due to their similar thirst for knowledge, but do not discriminate in their selection. They are known to keep chochliks as pets and to possess an impressive collection of books long lost to time. Purple dragons often create magical golems, or living armours as servants and guards and place at least one in every room. The portals in their towers are protected by passwords which can be a simple word or even an object.
Purple dragons sometimes meet other purple dragons on their travels. When that happens they try to steal each other secrets and magical artefacts. If one of them succeeds and the dragons happen to be of opposite gender they might decide to spend the night together and as opposite to brown dragons the winner takes desired artefact and also has to take care of the young ones when they hatch until the time when they reach adolescence. The female usually lays only 1 to 2 eggs, but despite the low number the dragons simply prepare the hatching chamber and - confident in the defences of their tower - leave the eggs to tend to their own projects.
The parents do not actively teach anything to the hisslings allowing them to learn everything by themselves. They're free to observe, but the adult dragon does not explain much and does not answer any questions - after all, they learned everything the hard way. They're strict with their progeny and often criticise their accomplishments so that they would seek perfection and even greater power.
As mentioned before, these dragons prefer diplomatic approach from direct fight, but are not afraid to throw a punch. Purples have a lot of magical artefacts to their disposal as well as all of the forbidden spells and various techniques they learned during countless years of searching. They prefer to start the battle by casting a few spells and using said artefacts and then transforming and overwhelming their foes with their draconic form. Anyone attacking the dragon physically in close combat receives slashing and piercing damage from its scales. They possess an aura of fear causing weak willed creatures to run in terror. Purple dragons can breathe with a line of pure, raw ether causing magic damage. They can also breathe with wave of animate flesh which inflicts initial damage and then twists the flesh of its foes creating bubbling creature of flesh equipped in razor sharp claws who start attacking their host. Last, but not least, they can breathe with disenchanting breath removing all enchantments from their enemies healing themselves in the process. They possess an ocular power which allows them to almost completely drain the mana from their opponents and add it to their own pool.
They are the most proficient with draconic magic of all true dragons and cast spells while in combat.
Purple dragons are healed once struck with pure magic. They're also highly resistant to spells of any kind, but weak against mind and electric based attacks.
